Fieflord Damian Thatcher was somewhat relieved, although he never showed
it. He had been in Penn during the dragon attack, attending a festival
thrown by Duke Ospel. That is why Crowley had been sent to Penn instead of
the Keep-Town of the Fieflord. ~At least the bloody lizard left my fiefdom alone for once! It could have just as easily been the town of Nugget or Mudspot or Shadowdale (The vale's largest village) that was destroyed!~ It had been eleven days since the attack and most of his time had been spent in the vast recovery effort that the Duke had ordered. Now he had his charges by Duke Dred and Ospel: To seek out any word of a Lord Frederigo of Suffex still in his lands and to send a company of his own knights to explore the Southern Caves, to seek what clues may lay within.While the Lord rode along on his horse, Crowley bumped from side to side behind him and grumbled to himself. At least he had a new ass to ride. "I haven't had even a sip of ale in weeks! By now Benchley has probably taken my daughter and my wife! Curse that Dragon! Curse Benchley! Why am I always the messenger!? What reward have I yet received!? Just more orders; 'Report this to Benchley, report that, bla bla bla..."He was accompanying the Fieflord as far as the fork in the road which would take one to either Nugget to the left or Mudspot to the right. He would ofcourse take the road to Mudspot, and the fieflord and his small company of guardsmen would take the road to Nugget. However when they reached the fork in the road they were confronted by a group of dark-skinned woodsmen. Crowley froze in fear, he had seen these woodsmen before, as had others in his village. The largest of the woodsmen wielded a deadly looking mace. There were thirty of the rough-looking men compared to the company of ten that were with the fieflord. None of them spoke.Crowley couldn't take it anymore. He was not going to die today! He turned his ass around and charged off back towards the desolation of Penn. What happens next??
