Astra hit the surface and found herself completely submerged. She
desperately kept her mouth closed as she fought to get up to the air. When
she broke the surface she gratefully took a deep breath, and then almost
wished she hadn't. The stench down here was so powerful that it almost had
a physical presence. She heard the guards voices from above, but could not make out any words. Down in the sewer it was pitch black. Since she couldn't see where to go Astra simply started swiming straight ahead. Several times she felt things floating on the water, and was almost glad that she couldn't see anything.
