Things are Afoot!

Fred was dumbfounded. This couldn't be happening... but it was. He knew that he could never fight against his own countrymen, against his own order of knights, against his own LiegeKing. And so he surrendered, as did the ranger who knew enough not to fight an overwhelming force.

"There is some sense in you after all," said the Captain. "Your crimes are many; though you vouchsafed many a promise, you have failed to bring any safety for Noreast Fief from which a cousin of yours hails; you have failed to humble the enemies of our Liege and King; you have failed to render due service to the Duke of this land; you have failed to preserve the fruits of the field from the enemy."

Fred was even more confused than before. Though his duties were many, his obligations manifold, they had all been laid aside when he was granted the mantle of Dragon-Hunter. Why would the King bind him in cords for these things... unless...

Many hours later saw Lord Fred and the Ranger ever closer to the center of Allaria. Fred had thought long during these hours of trudging behind the asses and horses and the asses of horses (prisoners were not given to ride). ~~the only reason the LiegeKing would turn against me would be because he knows of his not-so-dead brother! I must escape! Any way I can, I must escape!~~

One fortnight ago, within the King's City, King Emry Exultaine was admiring himself in the mirror. "Come now Honey," said his wife, the Queen. "I tire of this bore. Let us be off to the seaside Estate!"

"Dearest, Dearest," he cooed as he took his eyes off himself and planted them upon his wife. "This is all a game... one big game. Things are afoot in the South and I intend to find out what is going on. I have mandated our two Dukes and the many fieflords to send their fastest couriers with reports, and I have sent for Lord Frederigo. I do not understand the last report we had about him, but when the Guard finds him they shall aid him in his quest or bring him here to me. The last thing I need is anthing out of those dreadful Caves to come out and bite me where it hurts!"

What's this? The King did not send his men to arrest Fred??? Then who are the men who did just that? under whose banner do they proclaim loyalty? are they under some kind of duplicity? or a power beyond their ken? And with Fred thinking that his LiegeKing is evil, what series of events shall unfold from that?!!?

3. The man with the shiny gem smiles as he tosses the glass to the ground and begins to manipulate his real power
