"You're going to what?" cried Betty, not entirely sure she'd heard
that right. The woman tilted her head as if listening for a faint sound,
but gave no sign of having heard and understood her. A moment later, she
reached into a pocket and drew out a small vial of water. She started
chanting something in a language Betty didn't understand as she unstoppered
the bottle and began scattering drops all around the area where this
portion of Betty's divided consciousness was located. Betty watched with a
kind of appalled fascination as the drops splashed right through her. They
left a disturbing burning sensation in their wake. As Betty watched, her
body (always visible to her, if to no one else), began to fade... "Hey!
Stop it! I don't want to be exorcized! I mean, I don't like being a
ghost, but I'm not too sure about the alternative, you know? Stop
it!"
