Madame Zelberta Homes in on Betty

Though her main attention was focused on Fred (and simultaneously on
Astra, of course),
Betty happened to notice a plump, brightly-dressed woman who looked a
little like Whoopi Goldberg
enter the hall. The woman looked around as if she was searching for
something. Then,
as her gaze swept across the corner of the hall where a portion of Betty
was, she seemed to stiffen.
At the same instant, Betty herself felt something. She couldn't
have described
it more precisely, because it involved a sense that she hadn't possessed
whilst she was alive, so she
lacked any suitable words. But she knew that in some way contact had been
made.
The woman walked round the perimeter of the room towards Betty's corner. She seemed surprisingly graceful and light on her feet fot someone who must weigh close to 200 pounds. When she was within five yards of Betty, she stopped and said: "I'm Madam Zelberta. I know you're here somewhere nearby, Ghost...
