Inevitable Tribble-ations

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 17986

Betty

"Here we go again," I sigh. "I thought we'd managed to avoid it this time..."

"Avoid what?" says Daneel, looking a little confused.

"Avoid getting sucked into yet another real, live, version of a TV show episode," says my "sister." "'Trials and Tribble-ations,' here we come!"

Indeed, I'd thought we had at least managed to prevent this particular incident. See, when Sisko mentioned "Arne Darvin," it immediately clicked into my little Trekkie brain who this mysterious passanger who'd gotten loose on Solaria actually was. He'd been going by the name Barry Waddle, but Sisko, quite understandably, had suspected something fishy when he went AWOL, did some checking on him, and came up with his known alias: Arne Darvin. Unfortunately, what with one thing and another, Sisko and co. got a little distracted and never did finish said investigation, or they would have realized that "Arne Darvin" was, in fact, a Klingon spy, the very guy who poisoned all those fuzzy little Tribbles back in Kirk's time period.

With me so far? Of course you are. Everybody's seen that episode! Well, anyway, when Ragan and I heard that name, we were able to warn Sisko what the guy was up to -- namely, trying to use the Bajoran Orb to transport us all back in time so he could change things to get the better of Kirk -- and the newly recaptured Waddle/Darvin/whatever-his-real-name-is was safely locked in the brig.

Or so we thought. Seems like he was able to get out somehow. I'm a bit curious to know how, but that's not really what's important right now. What's important right now is that I'm about to find myself in the middle of one of my all-time favorite Trek episodes. Whoo-hoo!

Ahem. No, wait, sorry, that's not what's important right now. What's important right now is stopping the guy! Yeah! Try and stay focused here, Betty. You're a Champion now!

At any rate, my red-headed counterpart and I quickly fill in the situation for those who missed the earlier discussion with Sisko...

  1. ...and head on up to the bridge, so as not to miss any of the action!
