Ghosts and Tribbles.....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 17984

We are now all back together and have managed a few things....

Some were more eventful than others....

Inquirer

"Creator, I and the others have had interesting times!" I mutter to myself.

Somehow, it appears that the "Mistress" as we so lovely call her had been able to get away from Shada after her capture (re: 12231). She apparently had remembered me kicking her to prevent her escape (re: 12225), taken offense, and had set out on a relatively simple (vice complex and melodramatic.....shows how much she thought of my potential as an opponent) plan of revenge. I'd been with Roxanne and Daneel, helping speed up the "Golemination" process amongst the robots of Solaria and somehow the Mistress dragged me to some parallel Earth (in a trailerpark in Socorro...if my fuzzy memories are correct). She'd gotten the jump on me (gads, I'll never know how she managed that exactly) and shot me in the back with her Tissue Compression Eliminator.

Memories are fuzzy after that, I fear. It didn't kill me, but had instead the effect of alcohol on me as it would on a human being (I may be mentally like a human being, but physically the similarity is only in appearance). I remember enough to know that, in my drunken state, I did something that I would usually would have better sense in doing. I....grew a black handlebar mustache for her to twirl as she was compelled to laugh maniacally every few seconds. I had only used a simple cantrip that would face in a few days, but I fear that she'll take it the wrong way.

I fear that laugh aside, she just does not have much of a sense of humor when the.....joke is on her and she's made to appear foolish or trivialized.

I don't fear for my safety in that she'll go back in time to end me. Point in fact, I'll feel sorry for her if she does it. See, the Rules and Agents are guarding my and the other Champions past. Now, I know that if I or another Champion was to be so foolish as to try to alter my own past, those Celestrials would alter things. Instead of "our" past, we'd find ourselves in a similar parallel timestream. I somehow get the feeling that the Celestrials would NOT be so gentle in the "bounce" with another person trying such a stunt. Mayhaps if the Mistress tried it, she'd end up on some kind of alien parallel universe where their were only proto-humans about to speak with instead of humans....and her TARDIS (or part of it) scattered all over the multiverse.

Do hope she wasn't that foolish, or it'll be a LONG time, if ever, before we hear from her again.....

I have some vague memory of a theological discussion (re: 17974), but the next clear memory I have was of Roxanne and Daneel shaking me awake....with a killer headache!

Well, slightly hung over or no, I and the rest of the Golems were able to get the other downed Robots sped up in their transfiguration to where several task force was now out and about. One was putting things to right with the rest of this planet. Others (after a lift in the TARDIS) had....er....borrowed some spaceships in the past and were now reaching the Spacer worlds who were also having their Robots go offline while they slowly changed into Golems.

From what we can see, we've avoided a major disaster galaxy wide....and made the Earth rather happy with their market position (what with them being the only game in town to make working/willing Robots instead of free-willed Golems).

Oh, and I....and Daneel met that one Spacer fellow and a of his human camp followers. Fellow thought, in some state of lunacy, that this would be a perfect time to abduct Daneel and gunpoint and study him....even with the world falling apart around them. They cornered Daneel at gunpoint.....

Creator, I've got to wonder sometime about people!

Anyway, I and Roxanne knocked few heads together (came down to that, had no choice) to get the kidnappers to....er....see reason.

Shell shocked government officials were receptive to offers by Earth's government (despite groggy protests by Daneel's would be captors) for future orders for Earth Robots (for that time the new Golems go out to set up a world for themselves.....free and all that).

A bit more surprised with the reality of aliens, the Earth and the Spacers were eventually thrilled with joining in trade and such with the Federation.

All in all, interesting times ahead for the Robot universe I figure.

On a more personal note, some good has come our way for our friends and such. Leebig got arrested and it doesn't look good for him. Over the course of a week evidence and witnesses have been called. The legal opinion being that....well....Leebig's goose is cooked and he'll be facing execution here soon (surprised me that the Spacers use the death penalty). Divorce papers were filed between Mister and Mrs. Delmare (no love lost between the two) and it was quietly agreed between Gladia and Baley that perhaps something....more permanent would be arranged (like a move back to Earth or something for her).

Nice to see that Sigin was able to fix their phobias. Without that, I fear that the budding relationship between Baley and Gladia would not work out...

They make a lovely couple, actually.....

Hrmph...

Daneel will be wanting to get back to his....father....to get him caught up on the latest developments, I'm sure. He's coming back to Earth (with Roxanne) with us.

Oh, and Admiral Sisko told me and the Doctor in passing out in the corridor that the fellow who started this panic in the first place (somebody named Arn Darven) had finally been found and was now back aboard. Seems that he'd been able to make an escape and evade recapture until finally learning of the changed circumstances. Now he's back, safe and sound.

Now, all that there is left to do is for us to take Baley, Daneel, and Gladia back to Earth via TARDIS (quickest way). Baley has a lot of work ahead of him (boy, what a police report he'll be writing). The Defiant was going to be warping back home to return some kind of Bajorian Orb to Bajor so soon would be departing (Sisko also told us in passing on the way back to the bridge). A null field to prevent another episode that had brought us here had been set about it (some kind of interaction between it and the new skipdrive). Gladia had gotten her travel papers and pan-immunity shots (similar to what Ragan and Betty got back on Terra Prime so long ago) and was going to set up shop at Baley's place (hmm).

Anyway, I and the Doctor are going to tell the others about all this as soon as.....

A flash of yellow light interrupts things just as we step into the cargobay where the TARDIS is.

Betty is the first one to recover.

"Please tell me that that wasn't Arn Darven messing with the Orb of Time!" she nearly shouts, looking at the rest of us.

Like calls to like. That's a basic, simplified version of the Law of Association in Magery. In this case the Orb of Time finds itself being used again, but being deflected back in it's travels. Instead of heading back into it's own universes, it finds it must instead head to a universe where Star Trek technology is about....as well as magical energy needed to keep the various Golems and other folks of fantasy alive. The Defiant finds itself near a space station called K-7, in a universe where some other Champions made up of: two elfin couples (one made up by a male named Rugen and a female named Morgana Wordeni, the other made up of a new Light Elf nicknamed Doctor Four and a new Light Elf named Romana) and a male pixie named Triakoth (not yet seen in episode 17328). Thus, while these other Champions were bringing magic to this universe, the Defiant got dragged here by yet another Association (the strongest being the call of a Champion to a Champion).

Because of the somewhat mystical nature of the Orb, it falls is effected by the Law....alas.

Thus, up on the bridge, Jadzia Dax and the others are staring at the now clear viewing screen.

  1. "That's...." Sisko whispered, shocked, "Kirk's ship! The Enterprise!"
