The village children begins to crowd around him, and he asks them if he can hire a ranger somewhere.
Yes, there lives an old man in a hut outside the village. The flock of children runs ahead of him, eager to show the way, and Fred follows at a trot.

Old Alfredo had just sat down for his breakfast when someone started pounding on his door. Grumbling he went to open, and was astonished as apparently every kid between five and thirteen in the village flocked into his little hut. When all had squeezed inside it was so cramped that Old Alfredo found himself jamed against the wall, hardly able to breathe.
A scruffy looking man poked his head in through the doorway and asked, "Are you the local ranger?"
"-es" Alfredo managed.
The man brightened up in a smile "Good! I want to hire you." He held out his hand to him. Old Alfredo stared as he saw fifty gold pieces lying in his palm.

1. -Greedy- "Deal!"
2. -Supicious- "What's wrong with this guy?"
