An inconvenient love

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 17280

Charlie works really hard on finding a way of returning Susan to her former life at Fred, but it is a difficult job finding a way to reverse such powerful magic. The days turn to weeks and weeks to months as he works away and in that time the pair form an unlikely attachment with the former knight in the role of a big sister caring for her younger sibling

During this time Susan gets to know Alfred, the younger farmhand who lives in a nearby cottage. As he lives alone Susan often invites Alfred to come and share a meal with them. She really enjoys having someone else to cook for and having another adult to talk to.

After a few weeks Susan stopped inviting Alfred over and when Charlie asked why she became rather evasive. The truth was that she realised that she was beginning to become very close to Alfred and was very afraid that she might be falling in love with him. The very idea of such a love filled the transformed knight with absolute horror.

How could he fall in love with another man?

This was absolutely traumatic and having two conflicting sets of emotions made Susan totally miserable. In the end a decision had to be made . . .

  1. Fred determines to fight off the desires that were building
  2. Susan knows that she will be miserable if she doesn't give love a chance
  3. Fred decides he would rather become a nun than give in to such wrong desires
