The demifoxes who were part of the "northern mission" had reached their
initial destination of den Seanlyn. [16956] As they had their dinner that
evening,
an excited young demifox came in to tell them to come outside, or they
would miss seeing
something spectacular. When they did so, they
saw that
a violent thunderstorm seemed to have broken over part of the Goth, which
were low on the northern
horizon (though invisible, as it was now after dark). At least, they
assumed that a storm must be the cause of the frequent brilliant flashes of
light which they could see, even though there was a far greater variety in
colour
than you would ordinarily expect. The storm must have been too far away to
hear any thunder, and
eventually the flashes ceased. It had been quite a show, they
told one another as they returned to their interrupted meal.
In what had been Minestus' lair, Dr Vincent Priceless was weeping uncontrollably. He had done what no other human alive could have done, and had defeated a wyrm in combat. But the cost had been terribly high. Bobo and Lulu had gone the same way as Dada; he had lost all three of his babies. [16985]
