False Colors

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16695

Mike was still grinning with relish as he appeared back in Rassilon's tower. "Here's the letter, Rassilon," he said. Now show me some of that wonderful loot of yours."

Rassilon tooke the letter, opened it, and read it. It would probably have taken most people several minutes to read it, but Rassilon, with his superhuman intelligence, had finished it in a second. He frowned. This request was odd, to say the least, and a little dangerous. He hadn't liked this in the first place (he wished the Rules and Agents had let him be, he didn't like thinking that there were powers greater than himself) and liked it even less now. But he assumed the Rules and Agents knew what they were doing, and knew all too well what the cost of disobeying them would be. "So, what does the letter say, Rass baby?" said Mike.

"It says, among other things," intoned Rassilon, "that you secretly serve the Evil office and must be put to death." That part he was glad of, he desparately wanted this annoying human out of his hair. Before Mike could protest, he had vanished from the Tower. Rassilon dropped him off at the Shadow Sector. He could easily have killed him that moment, but thought it would be more interesting this way. In the days when the Death Zone was used for entertainment, no one, not even the greatest players, had stood a chance. People had been sent there as a form of death sentence. This vain and stupid human wouldn't stand a chance.

He then turned his attention to the next thing the letter had mentioned. He searched with his mind and saw that there was indeed someone who appeared to be a Doctor who was from another universe, and a set of others with him. The letter had said that they were secretly evil and very dangerous. It had also said that they had somehow gained the powers of Eternal Champions, and so could not be killed. Rassilon would have to freeze them in stone, as he had the mad Time Lords who had come seeking immortality. Then, a thought struck him. He remembered that there had been no woman with the man that the human had met. Considering the nature of the requests, could there have been some subterfuge?

So he searched with his mind, and found the man. He saw that there was indeed a woman with him. Why hadn't she shown up the first time? Then he realized that Michael wasn't showing up either. It was simply that the heavy unauthorized use of the timescoop, and the extrauniversal elements, had disrupted Rassilon's perception. This was getting more and more infuriating. He hoped there weren't other important things he had missed either, as zeroed in on the false Doctor.
