Astra - the human one - decided that this might be a good moment to try out
the Sontaran laser rifle she had recently acquired. [14138] As Zodin's
guards began to move
towards the intruders, she aimed at the rock ceiling just in front of them
and pulled
the trigger. The rock glowed red hot and, as the heat caused it to expand,
fissures
rapidly appeared in it. Several substantial chunks of rock fell and
impacted on the floor just ahead
of the guards. The guards stopped in their tracks, unwilling to advance but
frightened of what Zodin might do to them if they didn't.
Astra grinned. She hadn't expected her demonstration to be quite so effective. The falling pieces of rock had been a bonus. This new kind of weapon was fun. She swiveled the rifle to point at Zodin. "Perhaps you'd like to call off your men and welcome us a little more politely?" she suggested. Zodin was sweating now. Ordinarily she would have backed her magic against even such a weapon as this, but she was still drained from the forces she had called up to transform the other Astra.
