Fred helped Diana to her feet. "Are you all right?" he asked her. "Apart from a muddy footprint or two on my skirt, I'm fine," she assured him. "I should never have left you to make your way to the village on your own," he told her. "This region is too dangerous for a woman on her own. I'll escort you to the village." "Thank you," she said.

For a woman who had thought herself about to die, and then had witnessed the very messy death of an orc, she seemed remarkably composed. Though Fred had serious doubts about the truth of the story she had told him, he could not help but be impressed by her bravery.

1. Diana resumed following the path down the hillside, now with Fred by her side.
2. Six orcs lumbered into view a little further down the hillside. "Too many for me to overcome," Fred said. "Run for the shelter of the cave, and I'll try to hold them off until you reach it and then hope to join you there."
