The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16334

From the "Dark Tower" thread

Lord Frederigo D'Honaire:

Sent to kill the Dragon of the Southern Caves, Fred found Velus and encountered Princess Astra. They left Astra there and went to kill the Dragon, since killing the Dragon would destroy Astra's unbreakable chains, and the alternative way of finding Nomino, the wizard of Kamiro, would take too long. They soon found the King's daughter, Princess Exotica, chained to a wall as well. It turned out that the Dragon was apparently not so much a malevolant being as a pervert, kidnapping beautiful maidens and forcing them to work as his servants and pleasure him. Fred rescued Exotica and they set out to kill the Dragon.

They soon found themselves in a strange area of the caves, in a hallway that looked like it was made by a drunken carpenter, where opening any door led to a thousand more doors, and opening any of those doors led to God knows where. They ended up in an icy plain and entered a dark tower.

It turned out that they had been guided to the Tower by Charles Ranier, its guardian (who was actually a rogue Elemental, see episode 10791). It turned out that the dark tower they were in was the Dark Tower. Every universe has a Dark Tower, it guards the stability of its analog universes, and is pretty much the most pivotal thing in it. (This Dark Tower, btw, is alive and sometimes enters into a dormant phase.) Ranier had gathered them there to stop a crisis. In a ruined temple, to the south of Aqualaria, guarded by an apparently impenatrable magical field, lay the Great Petrasyph. Apparently an emerald as big as a normal human's head, it is actually a powerful artifact utilizing a Crystallic that the Elementals use to help intervene in universes and to communicate with their inhabitants. It is linked to billions of lesser Petrasyphs throughout the analog universes. But taking advantage of the chaos caused by the disappearance of the Petrasyph, and the coming of the new millennium, a man called Kharven (apparently an operative of the book maker's enemies, with almost supernatural powers of persuasion) sought to destroy the stone. Starting a revolutionary movement under the banner of equal rights for men, he stirred up a great following. Although Ranier did not suspect his true nature, he realized that he was probably more than he seemed, and sent Fred, Exotica, and Velus out to stop him.

Princess Astra Thessamar:

In the Aqualaria in this universe, men were subservient to women, but there has been increasing tension as men called for more rights. Astra had acted as a force for peace. Sent to kill the Dragon of the Northern Caves, she was captured band forced to act as his serving maid and concubine. (The Dragon was not the true threat to the Kingdom, and had been a mere pawn of Kharven.) Fred eventually rescued her and returned her to Aqualaria to help stop Kharven. But when she got there, she found that the Elementals were systematically destroying it, just she was transported to the Pyramid along with Fred, Exotica, and Velus.

Velus:

Velus was once a normal peasant teenager of Allaria, but he was captured by the minions of the Dragon of the Southern Caves and turned into a dog. He was turned back into a human by Charles Ranier.

Exotica:

Princess Exotica is the daughter of King Emry of Allaria. Although an Allarian female noble, she is no shrinking violet. She is very brave and independant and has had some training in battle skills.

From the "Pure as the Driven Snow" thread:>

Frederigo D'Honaire:

Sent to kill the Dragon of the Southern Caves, he met Velus and rescued Astra. He has a younger brother, Jarlath.

Princess Astra:

She was captured by the Dragon and rescued by Fred. After being rescued, they split up. She found a mysterious scroll which turned out to be the mysterious Scroll of Lycaeon and is now inflicted with its Curse, which takes effect every full moon. It is possible to create a cure, but it would require some very special ingreedients--among them the urine of a female virgin. However, the mysterious Curse also allows the cursed to channel incredible power.

Jarlath D'Honaire:

The younger brother of Fred, Jarlath is the seventh son of a seventh son and therefore a potentially powerful sorceror. He studied magic despite his family's strong distrust of it. When his fellow student Velus was challenged to a fight by the old boyfriend of one of his many girfriends, Jarlath sought to make him superhumanly strong, but instead turned him into a dog by mistake. Velus and Jarlath went to the Dragon's caves to find a cure, where they met up with Fred, Astra, and Zara, another of Velus's girlfriends.

Jarlath is already quite adept at sorcery. He is young and irresponsible, but basically decent. He has quite an eye for attractive girls, but it doesn't go the other way around, unfortuneatly. Without being aware of it, he has a strong connection to the mysterious power known as the Godfire, and there is only one other individual in the Multiverse with a stronger connection. (And we will come to him later...)< p>Velus

This Velus is somewhat different from his Dark Tower- universe counterpart. For one thing, he is a sorceror-in-training, although not a very good one. For another thing, rather than being turned into a dog by the Dragon, he was turned into a dog by a miscast spell of Jarlath.

It's pretty fitting that Velus was turned into a dog. Like a dog, he's physically strong (although not as strong as Alexis's big bruiser of a former boyfriend) and loyal to his friends, but not too bright. As it happens, like the other Velus, he retained his powerful senses when turned into a human again, which is the cheif reason why he's useful. He has even more of an eye for pretty girls than Jarlath, and is quite successful with them--but is still a virgin.

Zara:

Zara was one of Velus's many girfriends. Under circumstances that are not quite clear, she became inflicted with the Curse of Lycaeon, and went to the Dragon's caves to find a cure.

She is a very pretty young woman with red hair to equal Astra's own. Simple and modest, she is nonetheless hardly a virgin. Like her world's Astra, she has potential to weild great magical power because of her Curse.
