The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16315

Melissa Innes:

Melissa Innes is a relatively normal young woman (by her world's standards, anyway) from the year 2001 AD. She lives in the United States of Arkania, a former colony of Allaria. Her world's history took a course roughly equivalent to that of ours, but with research occurring in magic instead of science. Before being pulled back in time, she worked as a lab technician at the Miskatonic Institute for Applied Sorcery. She is strikingly beautiful, with dark hair and a slim, lithe figure. She is practical, levelheaded, and independant, although not quite sure what to make at times of the strangeness around her.

Sir Cuitous:

Sir Cuitous (yes, that's his real name. And it's not the strangest thing about him) of Grenville was once a brave and handsome (or so he says, anyway) knight on the same Earth as the Astra and Fred previously mentioned and as Melissa. He once went on a quest for an artifact known as the Ring of Palin, along with a wizard named Eldicire. But Eldicire attempted to steal the ring for his own dark purposes, and turned Sir Cuitous into a giant floating skull. Sir Cuitous sought to kill Eldicire in revenge, as he knew that he would never turn him back to normal. He eventually met Astra, and was teleported to the red pyramid with her.

Although a trifle egotistical and not a little embittered (as ought to be expected considering that he is not only a giant skull but has a name like "Sir Cuitous), he is a fairly good person despite being a giant floating skull and all. He is a very brave and determined man, as shown by the fact that he became a knight despite the fact that it meant that people would be eternally making bad jokes about his name.

"Sir" Josh Beiber:

Josh Beiber was once a fairly normal computer geek and interactive story writer (if such a thing is possible) from a fairly normal Earth. However, when playing a rather pointless computer game called Addventure Game 2, he unknowingly tapped into a pocket universe that corresponded with it. When he encountered the spellbook of Randall Flagg, left over to help ressurect him, Rule 1 found out and transported Josh into the game to explain what was going on, and then asked him to hand over the book.

The Josh Beiber who ended up in the red pyramid saw the book and Rule 1 both destroyed, along with the universe that he was in, before he could hand the book over. In the original scheme of things, however, Josh's mind would have been touched by Randall Flagg, and he would have tempted him and convinced him not to hand over the book. Josh would have been transformed into the third Brazen Man, after an evil analog of Fred and a madman and former Guardian from Belinda 3's universe who assumed that identity trying to take over that universe for his own ends. As the Brazen Man, Josh fought/would have fought Belinda 3 and her friends, and was ultimately destroyed by/would ultimately have been destroyed by the Champions. (This is the sort of situation that gives grammar fanatics nightmares.) And yes, Josh found the book centuries in the Champions' lifetimes after Flagg was defeated by Belinda 3, but Randall Flagg has been involved in such time-warping shenanegans before.

Josh is on the whole a fairly ordinary person, yet at the same time as an interactive story writer, he has a strong creativity and a sense of the unusual. In appearance, he's fairly plain, not particularly attractive but not particularly unattractive either. He also wrote some episodes of a story that involves Fred and Astra, although he stopped writing for it before the Otherworlds thread began and so doesn't know about the Champions or anything of that nature.
