The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16302

But now a greater threat has emerged, one that threatens every universe...

And to stop this threat, a mysterious individual has gathered together a set of heroes from across the universes. He has mainly drawn them from two universes.

The first is an universe whose guardians are known as the Departments. There are four departments--Order, Chaos, Good, and Evil. Earth is exteremely pivotal in their scheme of things, and they are basically human in how they act. Their operatives are known as Eternal Champions. To make a very long story very short, most of the Eternal Champions were versions of Fred and Astra. This started when a group of Freds and Astras were transported to an Earth known as Terra Prime. There, they helped rebuild things after a major disaster and combatted several multiversal threats. They were eventually recruited as Eternal Champions to help repair the damage caused by a rogue demon known as Randall Flagg. This will be referred to as the Terra Prime Universe. This is a variant on the multiverse of MSG's "As The Fur Flies" thread, more information about which may be found here:

The second universe involved is the Pyramid's home universe. Rather than the Departments, it is guarded by beings known as the Elementals. They are far more alien and aloof than the Departments. This will be referred to as the Elemental Universe.

And now, here is a breakdown on all of the characters.

From the Terra Prime universe:

The Champions

Fred 2:

Frederigo D'Honaire Thessamar was one of the Freds and Astras who first arrived at Terra Prime, setting off the whole Eternal Champion thing. The following is taken from a character bio written by WolfRun:

Sent to kill the Dragon Velus, he rescued Astra and defeated the Dragon. But he and Astra were soon banished to the Calamari Desert by the Dragon Minestus. Soon after, the two were turned into demifoxes and given the mysterious Crystallic by the dying Dragon Malachi. They sought out the mage Synizn and found him. And then all three were transported to Terra-Prime.

Fred 2 became an Eternal Champions in the quest to rescue Fred 8, like so many of the others. He remained a distinguished and heroic Champion for centuries to come. Of late, however, he has had something of a "midlife crisis." (Not exactly accurate, considering that he's immortal.) He has begun to feel increasing ennui over his missions and is wondering wether he's really meant to be a Champion.

Like most Freds, Fred 2 is honorable and brave, although he tends to think a bit to much with his heart rather than his head. Centuries of experience has made this Fred a bit more cautious, though.

Fred 91X:

Fred 91X has had a somewhat odd personal history. As his name hints, his particular universe's timeline split 26 times. This was as a result of the time experiments of his world's evil analog of Jarlath (his brother), who was trying to make himself into a god. What's more, the Astra he ultimately ended up with was not the one from his world. The one from his world was killed by a sandworm. Sent to kill the dragon Velus, he rescued Astra adn defeated the Dragon. But he and Astra were soon banished to the Calamari desert. He was turned into a scissor-handed freak by the mad scientist Doctor Vincent, but mysteriously healed. His Astra was then killed by a Demon Worm, who was actually being controlled by Jarlath. Before it could kill him, however, the Champions intervened. It turned out that he had somehow been imbued with a fraction of the Godfire, a mysterious elemental force that was innate in Jarlath and which he was trying to fully control. Fred 91X eventually defeated Jarlath, but lost his connection to the Godfire. He was inducted as a Champion, and eventually married Astra 91Q, more on who later.

Astra 91Q:

Astra 91Q was part of the same set of worlds from which Fred 91X came from. She was rescued by her world's Fred, and after he killed the dragon Velus, they were exiled to the Calamari Desert by the evil sorceror Zardoz. They were on a quest to defeat Zardoz when they were contacted by the Champions. They played a major role in defeating Zardoz and his ally, her world's evil version of Jarlath, and were later inducted as Champions. Her Fred was killed by Jarlath before he could be inducted as a Champion. She later became engaged to Fred 91X.

Astra 91Q, like most versions of Astra, is brave, kindhearted, determined, quickwitted, and resourceful. She is a strikingly beautiful woman with red hair. She is outspoken, and occasionally acts rashly.

Gareth:

Garethrobertsranekvaretkeloron, Gareth for short, is the son of the rogue Time Lord and Eternal Champion known as Dr. Who, and the AI/golem and Eternal Champion known as Inquierer. (The Doctor's bio is here: http:// www.chattown.com/home/gen/gryphon/DoctorBios.htm. Inquierer's bio is here: http://www.chattown.com/home/gen/gryphon/BiosMil.html#Inquirer) Technically, neither of them were fertile in their normal state. However, when a Crystallic being (actually a rogue agent of a being who would later apparently destroy their universes) attempted to absorb the energies of the Champions by turning them all into baseline humans (even the ones that hadn't been in the first place), Dr. Who and Inquierer got to... know each other a bit better... and Gareth was the result. At this point, rather than inducting champions from whoever got flung into Terra, the descendants of Champions were asked at 18 wether they wanted to be Champions. (Although, to prevent inbreeding, if a Champion fell in love and the person he or she was suitable champion material, he or she would be inducted.) Not all accepted, most didn't. Gareth was one of the ones who did. He is something of an expert in scientific matters, not surprising considering his background. Unlike his parents (whose normal nature was restored after Inquierer gave birth to him), he is interested sexually in women, but wouldn't consider entering into a relationship with someone who isn't as intelligent as he is. He is more rational and levelheaded than most, but somewhat socially insecure. He was about 20 when his universe was apparently destroyed.
