Death is a Strange Business

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 15912

Death wasn't all Fred had thought it would be.

He had been brought up being taught that at the moment of one's demise that the Squid-God Katharsis would come, wrap you up within his mucous- filled embrace and take you to Klockwork, the abode of the dead. This was the teaching of his mother, his grandmother, his great-grandmother, and of all the Preachers of Suff. Of course, there were rival theologies, philosophies and constructs; the chief of which was the King's own - the belief that the Katharsis was only an agent of the mighty Feinstein, goddess of ivy and all creeping plants. This was no coincidence as the great Capital of the Great Kingdom was situated in a rainy land that grew many plants. It was believed there that the Squid-God brought all the dead to Feinstein in a lush paradise of multi-colored flora. Either way, Fred found himself in no such places.

Fred found himself in a cave, he was levitating, ad looking down at his own corpse. Astra was there too, ruffling through his clothing.

  1. is Fred a simple ghost?
  2. is Fred a poltergist, doomed to roam the caves forever?
  3. is Fred an ectoplasmic projection of the Squid-God's sense of humor?
