Astra went on: "You see, Fred, what I told you when we first met [4663]
about how
I came to be serving the dragon wasn't true. The dragon promised me great
riches
and power, and that his magic could greatly extemd my lifespan, and that
was why
I pledged my fealty to him. It wasn't because
he'd captured my sisters. Indeed, it was I who gave him the information
that enabled them to be captured in the first place. I never liked them,
and it
amused me to thing of their being held as prisoners.
"The dragon naturally saw you as a threat, and so he asked me to deal with you. There would have been much simpler ways than the one I chose, without involving this pretence of rescuing my sisters, but I was getting a little bored and thought it would be fun to lead you on a wild goose chase. Once you are dead, I'll see about calling the dragon's guards, and getting the two sleeping beauties returned to their cell."
