Astra and the Scarecrow

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 15521

Astra's first inclination was to retrace her steps, and try to find out where and how she had gone astray, in an attempt to find the others again. She wasn't too bothered about finding Velus, but since Fred had freed her she felt that, as a matter of honour, she should assist him in his quest in any way that she could. But then she saw something that made her decide to go out into the fields instead.

In the middle of one of the fields stood a scarecrow. From this distance, she could not make out any details of what it was wearing. No doubt its clothes would be weathered and torn, but they had to represent an improvement over her current state of undress.

She made her way over to the scarecrow.

And was soon dressed in the clothes that it had been wearing: ragged, worn and dirty they might be, but they were clothes for all that.
As she reached out her hand towards it, the scarecrow startled her by speaking: "Hey! What do you think you are doing?"
But before she could reach it, a figure emerged from the shadow of a hedgerow and called to her: "Stop! What are you doing in my field?" The farmer? What was he doing out in the fields after dark?
