Tree Branches?

Yes, apparently, there were tree branches. There were trees at the end of
the tunnel. As Astra walked upward, she saw that she was in a part of the
caves that was open to the air. Nearby were simple huts, the kind a
farmer might live in. Around them lay plowed fields stretching out for
miles, and barns and fences keeping the livestock in. By the light of the
moon, Astra could see a crevice above her. Some of it was jagged and some
was smooth, indicating work. Bordering the mountains were wooden
structures, designed to keep the mountain goats from the fields. This was, apparently, the place where the humans who served the Dragon lived. Probably, these were people who had been captured to farm food for the Dragon, or perhaps they had done so willingly. Behind Astra, there was the tunnel she had come from, and another one next to it, which led into a corridor lit by lamps.
