Ordinarily, the appearance of a deeply tanned, muscular, grey-eyed man
wearing only a
loincloth might have been an unlikely development. But in the combined
dream of Astra and the Lord of Nod it was quite a natural thing to happen.
And perhaps Fred, too, had fallen asleep without his realising it and was
now dreaming,
else what was he doing in the dream?
At the appearance of the stranger, who was making a great whooping cry, the apemen all fled in terror. The man quickly produced a knife and cut Astra's bonds. "Me Zantar, you Jane," he said. "Er, me Astra, actually," Astra said. "Thank you for rescuing me."
