The Evil One!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 14789

And so they emerged onto the unnamed planet of the Sevateem and the Tesh . . . . . . where a young woman was walking through the forest, having just been expelled from her tribe for blasphemy . . .

As a young woman is walking through the forest, the adventurers have gotten out of the TARDIS. The elves say that they hear a "high pitched hum" off in a direction behind them and that is highly suggestive in and of itself, if this area of the planet is relatively barren of high technology as advertised. The hum is the barrier that keeps the monsters known as the Phantoms out of the land of the Sevateem, and that is the general direction they must head! The others will keep an ear out for possible signs of Leela or others on the way as they hurrry along. Meanwhile, Betty and Ragan explain the basics of the episode "The Face of Evil."

At one part Sigin looks over at Ragan when she brings up the fact that the Doctor (from the TV show) was doubtful right off about the validity of Xoanon.

"Some people I've talked with say that it was because he had inherent doubts about all religious beliefs," Betty continued, bringing an odd look from Doctor Who.

"Or perhaps it could have been the fact that he was cast in the role of the equivalent of the Devil," Sigin put in, frowning. "Frankly, I would be doubtful about the validity of a religion if I was featured exclusively as such."

He didn't mention the fact that dragonkind (as far as most Occidental dragons) were considered nothing but evil before recent events back on Terra Prime. He and others were doing what they could now to remedy that perception (and make up for past wrongs for others). That wasn't exactly important right now.

Besides the fact that speed was of the essence (there was the sound of something out there), the others decided to drop the subject. Not only was it not exactly a good subject to broach, there was the fact that Sigin had risked his very life for believing in a religion (as noted by a golden cross he was in the habbit of wearing) other than the "state" religion of dragons back on his homeworld. While tolerant of other's religious beliefs, the others got the idea that this could be something of a sore point if they kept talking about this stuff. Probably not, but they just dropped it out of respect for Sigin.

Leela was off beyond the boundary, and right at the moment, she was worried.

She'd survived an ambush (with help from a sympathetic friend) sent by the Speaker of Law, but now was facing something she thought had just been a story.

On the offset of the little trek she'd been sure that the legend of "Phantoms" beyond the boundary were just fireside stories used to scare little children into behaving at night, but with the sounds coming fromnearby (something that sounded like, to her, like four large people with bad colds) were making her think twice. Oh, she'd assured Tomas that she could take care of herself, but Zoanon (a god she didn't really believe in) help her if she got caught by whatever was out there. What made this most . . . er . . . .interesting is the fact that Phantoms can not be seen.

Yes, a most interesting challenge indeed (and one she could well do without right now).

Rushing ahead, she trips and falls to the ground, and she's VERY surprised when a friendly hand helps her up.

"Here, let me help you up," Sigin says, ever the gentleman (or gentledragon, technically), helping her up.

Leela first looks in surprise at him, then at the rather odd group, but her eyes widen in horror when her eyes fall upon . . . .

"The Evil One!" Leela gasps, making a warding sign.

"Huh?" Betty and Ragan say together, surprised.

  1. The Doctor is in his third Regeneration....not his Fourth!
