An Inconvenient Lake

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 13904

More than ever, Shen Tso wondered whether she had been guided into a trap. The dim light from the passage reflected off the water, shimmering as small ripples passed across the water surface. On the far side of the lake, several hundred yards [or metres if you prefer] away, she could see another passage, much larger and more brightly lit.

Shen Tso paused to consider her options. She could retrace her steps, something she was reluctant to do. She could try to swim the lake wearing her armour. It was surprisingly light, but it was bound to encumber her to some extent. Or she could strip off her armour, and swim the lake in whatever she was wearing underneath it, which would obviously make her very vulnerable should she encounter the dragon - or anything else with evil intent for that matter.

It was a difficult choice, but in the end:

  1. She decided to turn back and look for another route.
  2. She decided to attempt to swim across attired as she was.
  3. She decided to discard her armour. (But she retained her sword, of course.)
