Afraid that there might be more police outside the main entrance, they
removed
the chairs that were blocking the rear exit and left that way. Dr Edwards
led
them to the hospital where he practised, which turned out to be nearby.
"No point in having one's drinking club too far away from one's place of
work,"
he said. Stacy wasn't sure that she cared for the sound of that. If Dr
Edwards
might have to operate on her, she would very much prefer that he was sober
at
the time.
The Doctor saw Stacy's worried look, and interpreted it correctly. "Don't worry," he said. "As I told you before, [12138] Dr Edwards is the very best in his field, or we wouldn't be here." Edwards looked pleased. "Thank you, Doctor," he said. "Coming from you, that means a lot." When they reached Dr Edwards' laboratory, he asked Stacy to sit in a chair, and then put something looking rather like a hair-dryer over her head. He then examined the readings on the bank of instruments to which the device was attached.
