Hibernation

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 13444

Fred's would-be words take the form of a mere growl, and he whimpers in fear and confusion. As the voice fades into echoes and then silence, he looks around. He is in a snow-covered forest. Immediately he wonders if that means he should be hibernating, but he shakes his head. He cannot think like that! He must find a way to get back to his quest!

However, as he walks through the forest, trying to figure out where he is, all he can think is how sleepy he is. Very soon he happens upon a safe-looking cave. Suddenly the voice echoes in his head again: Because I'm so nice, even though you didn't make the necessary preparations for hibernation, I'll make sure you make it through the winter.

Fred can't resist the cosy-looking cave, and he crawls inside and promptly falls asleep.

When he wakes up,

  1. a few weeks have passed, and spring has arrived. Fred stretches, noticing this bear form is much more comfortable now.
  2. he almost immediately hears the footfalls of a lone human uncomfortable close to his den.
  3. he finds a female bear curled up next to him.
