She went to nurse Dreeg later that day, and as she looked at him she knew that he was her blood, and she could never leave him. Gorbukin had come to her, and that spirit of a life she'd left long ago had dared interrupt him. Gorbukin! What could this Annix possibly know of her life, her race? He was patron of something she wasn't. Maybe she once had been, and maybe she'd loved that life, and maybe she had inded been ripped away from it by force, but... but... She felt dizzy, her righteous anger faltering. She really had almost forgotten about Fred. He'd been a good man, a great one even, and on a terribly important quest. But - but that was all so much bigger than the little life she had now. She couldn't possibly... No. She really couldn't possibly. She could not, and would not abandon her clan. But Annix had planted a seed, and it took to the soil rapidly. The following day, when she rose at dawn, the sun itself blinked at her, and she realized at once what was happening - she had made way for Gorbukin.
