So Gabriel and Mara explained that Belboz had promised to forge a weapon that could defeat the dragon, made from a combination of several magical artifacts. This was the fourth of seven, and would be the third that they personally had delivered to Belboz. "But who would wield this weapon?" Rick asked in amazement. "Belboz has said he will take care of that," said Gabriel. Rick nodded, considering this deeply. He glanced at Freda. "And... why have you brought a cow with you?" "Oh, this is Freda, our questing cow," said Mara. "We... encountered her while finding the last artifact." "...Right," said Rick, still very puzzled. "Well, if it is for the good of all the realm, I should be happy to join you on this quest." Gabriel and Mara were ecstatic to accept, as they were still rather new at this questing thing and had felt their luck was due to run out. "Our next stop is Belboz's," said Gabriel. "We need to deliver these last two artifacts to him." And so the unlikely quartet sallied forth to return to Belboz's mountain home. Over the weeks they spent traveling, it never occurred to Freda to mention that she had known Rick. She didn't talk an inordinate amount anyway, and that part of her life was over and so completely irrelevant now she often didn't even think about it. Rick came to enjoy the company of the young sorcerers and even of their talking cow he grew fond. Finally they arrived at Belboz's mountain home, and he admitted them in. As they stood in his foyer, they briefly summarized what had happened since they'd last spoken, introduced Freda and Rick, and handed over the two artifacts. Belboz turned both over in his hands as they talked, casting occasional sidelong glances at the cow and the knight. When they had finished, he was silent for a moment, and eventually said,
