Gabriel and Mara immediately shifted into defensive stances upon seeing the knight. "Freda!" Mara cried. "Who is this?"

"I am Sir Ricardo O'Farrell of Allaria," Rick asserted. "Did you find that pot in the crypt?"

Gabriel looked down at the small pot in his hands and hid it behind his back. "What's it to you?" he challenged.

"I, too, am here for that same artifact. I was sent by Arahim, court sorcerer of his Majesty King Embron. He told me it would be instrumental in protecting the kingdom of Allaria from the dragon."

"Well, we were sent by the wizard Belboz," Mara cut in. "He told us it would be instrumental in stopping the dragon's reign!"

  1. "Belboz?" cried Rick in alarm. "My dear, that necromancer is not to be trusted!"
  2. Rick had to admit that option sounded better in terms of the greater good. "Why don't you tell me more about his plan?"
  3. Rick could not acquiesce; he had a mission from his kingdom and he would not fail.
  4. "This is certainly a predicament," said Rick. "Please, allow me to contact Arahim and ask what he thinks."
