Lizzie had the most marvelous of times. She had chosen to wear a glittery blue dress (Josh's favorite of hers, she knew) that complemented her figure and spent a full hour on her makeup, and she'd never felt more beautiful. Josh was unbelievably attractive in his best jacket and the tie she'd gotten for him last Christmas. He showed her an amazing time, making her laugh so hard and often her cheeks hurt, and kissing her, as always, till she saw stars. Their instructor was professional but also funny, but near the end of the lesson, he suddenly and without explanation stepped out of the room. Lizzie was looking after him in puzzlement when she heard Josh's voice from behind her say her name. She turned, and looked down. He was kneeling in the middle of the dance floor, holding up a large sapphire ring. "Elizabeth Penelope Avalaria," he said, "will you marry me?" Lizzie's hands flew to her mouth, and for a split second her brain was filled with white noise.
