Josh caught her up in his arms and held her as she laughed and cried at the same time. She was so small, her body holding none of the strength it once had. This was what Josh had been building up to ever since "Lizzie" had come into being. He didn't know who she had been before, but it didn't matter—the deal he had with that strange organization in Allaria had ensured that he would receive a beautiful young woman who would be perfect for him. False memories had been forming for the last three weeks, and he had been warned that she would still technically retain the memories of her past life, but they'd enchanted him so that if he ever noticed any discontent in her, his kiss would put her in a state of ignorant bliss, almost a sort of high, and over time, she would learn to be happy. He could not wait to marry her. Lizzie, for her part, had not spent a single second in the last week thinking about her old life. She couldn't stop weeping in joy at the thought of marrying Josh and spending the rest of her life with him.
