Josh appeared to be making dinner. She crept up behind him, grinning, ready to plant a kiss on him that would make him forget his name like he kept doing to her, but as she was about ready to pop out and reveal herself he suddenly turned, catching her by the waist, and eliciting a cry of surprise and delight as he dipped her down low to the floor. He brought her back up and gave her a twirl, and she didn't even wonder at how natural it felt to follow his lead, and as a final touch he pulled her close and kissed her. This time she had the presence of mind to kiss back, and so she did, passionately. But he was the one to break it off, laughing, saying, "Shoot, we just skipped right to dessert." He was so perfect. She was so lucky. They had an absolutely lovely dinner together and then spent the evening making out on the couch. He had a gig the following morning, and it was the third Monday of August, so she headed to her brand new job at the elementary school down the road. She introduced herself as Ms. Avalaria. The day went great. Except the small moment she idly wrong "D'Honaire" on her notepad and stared at it for a few moments with a small knot between her brows as she tried to remember how to pronounce it. A fellow teacher, a sixth grade maths instructor named Aaron who was also new this year, seemed to take a special interest in her. He asked about her family (her parents had both died in a car accident some years before and she had no siblings) and how she liked the town (they had, after all, just moved here last month). The first week marched on. Life was wonderful. She already loved her new job, and Josh was absolutely incredible. If she ever thought of her old life anymore, which happened so little she could count the instances on one hand, it was to consider how much an improvement this was.
