Josh the Potions Master

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 115230

A man who grew and arranged flowers for a living? That was unusual. Fred continued trying to conjure up memories, but was distracted as they walked into the house. It was absolutely luxurious compared to anything she'd ever had before, almost fit for a king in her book, or at least a lord. The walls were adorned with pictures of Josh and "Lizzie," both looking almost deliriously happy. She smiled slightly without realizing it as she looked at them.

"Come on, babe," said Josh. "I'll make you some soup and then it's off to bed with you."

That was very kind of him, she thought vaguely. It was rare that men did any cooking in the world she came from. She hesitantly took a seat at the table and waited, turning over the strange situation in her mind. She knew there was no way she'd be able to go to sleep anytime soon--there was too much to think over and she wasn't tired in the least, after her long sleep at the hospital.

Presently the kitchen was filled with a delightful aroma, and Josh placed a bowl of soup in front of her. She took an experimental mouthful, and, finding it delicious, she began to eat enthusiastically. He sat across the table, watching with a smile.

The bowl was almost empty inside five minutes, and strangely enough, she was suddenly feeling exhausted. She kept yawning and could hardly keep her eyes open. She didn't even notice Josh get up, but suddenly he was next to her, saying, "Come on, sweetheart, you're about to fall asleep in your chair."

She didn't resist as he pulled her to her feet, guided her to another room, and laid her down in a comfortable bed. She settled down quickly under the blanket, and was asleep in seconds, before he'd even left the room.

She woke up the next morning feeling better rested and more refreshed than she had in a very long time. But for a long time she remained in bed, muddling over her situation. It was good she wasn't panicking, but she needed to find a way out of this, a way back home.

A wonderful smell soon pulled her out of bed and back to the kitchen, though. Josh was making what appeared to be scrambled eggs. When she appeared, he smiled and said, "You're up. You're still wearing that dress, though. Here, have some breakfast and then go change, okay?"

She approached the table, acquiescing silently. She didn't notice when he poured some clear liquid into the eggs shortly before delivering them to her plate. They tasted heavenly, and she ate with as much enthusiasm as before, but the more she ate, the stranger she felt. Her mind was becoming... foggy, almost numb. She wasn't quite finished when she found she couldn't move anymore.

Josh turned her chair and sat directly in front of her, looking into her glassy eyes. "Okay, sweetie, here's how this is going to work. I'm going to ask you some questions, and you're going to answer completely truthfully. When we're finished, you're going to sleep for a while, and wake up with no memory of this encounter. First question:

  1. tell me about the weaknesses of the kingdom of Allaria."
  2. describe your current state of mind in detail."
