"What is your name, child?" Aerwyna asks as they walk. "Susie." The dryad grimaces. That won't do at all. "I shall give you a nymph name, while you are here. You shall be called Sereia." "Serray-uh," the girl enunciates carefully. Aerwyna nods conciliatorily. First she takes Sereia to eat the fruit from Melusinth's tree, which has been shown to have an intoxicating effect on humans, though they've never seen the long term effects of it, as everyone who has eaten of it has done so without permission, and been appropriately punished. Sereia's eyes go wide and full of stars as soon as she takes her first bite, and she finishes the fruit with dreamlike slowness and proceeds to stare around at the trees as if she's seeing the very universe unfold before her. Soon Sereia seems to grow very sleepy, and she falls fast asleep in the roots of Melusinth's tree. While she sleeps, the nymphs remove her coarse human clothing and cause moss to grow all over her skin and in her hair. They braid flowers and blades of long grass into her hair and use their magic to plant seeds under her skin which will grow into beautiful flowering plants. When Susie wakes up...
