Stacy wondered whether the Professor's email identity of MYERJS8 provided
her with a clue to his real name. If he had really
worked with
her father, and if she could work out from that which
university he had been at,
then she could probably find out quite a bit about him. On the other hand,
perhaps he wasn't
trying to keep his identity a secret. After all, if he was, would he have
mentioned
that he used to work with her father, assuming he was telling the truth?
What had she been discussing with him in the doughnut shop? She recalled that the young man from behind the counter had told her that his closing words to her had been: "So I can't change your mind, Doctor Jones?" [6171] She had said "no", apparently. She knew from her watch that today was Tuesday, 25th July. Why had she waited five days from the date of his email before meeting him at the doughnut shop? Or perhaps she had met him more than once? Her thoughts were interrrupted by the phone ringing. She picked it up, feeling a little apprehensive. Perhaps the caller would be the Professor. In reply to her "Hello?", the voice at the other end said: "Hello, Stacy. I don't suppose that you've changed your mind?"
