Fred had just been transformed into a woman in the midst of labor, or, perhaps more likely, had his consciousness transplanted into the body of a woman in the midst of labor. But he also had all her thoughts and memories... What if this was her true form, and she was simply mad? No, that made no sense, Angela had no history of mental illness. She was not Angela. She was Sir Fred. And Sir Fred was utterly and hopelessly at a loss as for what to do - not to mention flooded with hormones and maternal instincts that she couldn't quash.

Joe didn't find her tears too odd, considering, and simply held her close to him in comfort. Angela sobbed as she had never sobbed before in either life that she could remember.

Eventually she had to succumb to her exhaustion, and she fell asleep in the hospital bed. She tossed and turned, though, and woke up in the middle of the night. For a long time she lay awake, pondering what to do.

  1. She couldn't leave her child, as much as her old self wanted to. She was trapped, in more ways than one.
  2. She had to get out, right now. No time even to look around for proper clothes.
  3. She would return home with her family, gather some supplies, and be off.
