Charlie did not move. His eyes were wide as saucers. His mouth opened and closed as he searched for words.

"I hope you're fully aware of the evils you've done me," Fred snarled. "You made me into a—into a—" He found he could not finish the sentence.

  2. Fred's vision went black around the edges, and in a flash he had fainted.
  3. "It doesn't matter," Fred finally said, decisively. "Not anymore. Get me what I asked for, you wretch."
  4. "Into a man," Charlie finished. "Oh, Granny Susan, I'm so sorry. Don't worry, I shall fix this."
