Fred sat still for a long time, sifting through several years' worth of progressively more horrifying memories. Was... was the dragon still terrorizing the kingdom? He had been ripped away from his quest...

His head snapped up when he heard the doorknob turn, and he quickly got out of bed and stood up to face whoever was coming. Predictably, it was Charlie, and the boy stood staring in shock at the man before him.

  1. "Don't say a word," Fred growled. "Just give me some proper clothes and supplies, and I'll be on my way."
  2. Fred had wanted to be angry with the boy, but he couldn't find it in him to be. "You seem to have returned me to my original form," he said at length.
  3. Fred found he reacted very instinctively to the boy, and said, "My dear, you've gone white as a sheet! Let's get some food in you." He started for the kitchen.
