And so Henry's boat was released, and they immediately resumed the journey to shore. Waverly waved goodbye to her friends, though she still did not recognize the one who looked so heartbroken. "Henry," she said, "do you know who that is?" "No," he said curtly. It was sort of almost true. Henry introduced his betrothed to his friends the next day, saying he had met her as she walked along the sea in the morning. This was also fairly close to true. She played along with his stories, smiling happily at his side. They began planning and scheduling the wedding, and Waverly started getting to know the village where he lived. Several weeks passed, and the day of their wedding drew near. Sometimes Waverly thought of that strange merman who'd seemed so upset at her leaving, but she always became quickly distracted.
