As Stacy translated the patchy, nearly illegible medieval French, she
noticed several illuminations interspersed throughout the text. They were
good quality. She didn't know how, but she could tell they were made using
powdered minerals and other expensive ingredients. The blues were cobalt,
and some of it was actually gilt. The thing that caught her eye about them, though, was the fact that several of them depicted a woman who looked alarmingly like her. Upon noticing this, she hastily began to translate the passages of the text which seemed to correspond to the illuminations. Again, it was nearly illegible, so she couldn't glean much, but from what she could tell, they referred to a woman called "Anastasia". They told of various deeds of heroism that had apparently earned her quite a reputation, unheard of in that time. Stacy decided to examine one of the scenes in detail...
