At first Fred's mind was fuzzy with panic, but as the journey stretched on she had time to clear her head. There were, in more ways than one, not words to express her frustration at not being able to ask questions or shout for help, but she'd just have to deal with this inconvenience. She started going over the possibilities in her mind. His smooth comment, implying he'd done this before, had certainly eliminated some of them, and, fortunately, indicated that he didn't know who she was, so he couldn't be taking her back to any of her previous captors. He could be gathering her up for the slave trade or some type of work. There was also a possibility--a slim one, but it was there, and it wasn't as if anything that had happened to her up till this point would be considered likely--that he was indeed a proper knight, and had some misconception about her. Perhaps he knew something about the river, and why it wasn't on her map? She pondered her situation for hours, but she was unable to request real answers, nor did her captor offer any. And escape certainly wasn't an option; she was utterly weak in this form. Finally, they arrived at
