Fred sighed in relief (though no sound came out). She hadn't had to veer too far off course, and the bridge looked very sturdy. She vaguely wondered where that path was coming from and where it was going, but she'd see about that once she was on the other side. She didn't hesitate to start across the bridge.

She took one step--and her foot was met with nothing. She tried to right herself but plunged straight into the water. The bridge had been an illusion, but created by whom? A question for later, as now she had bigger concerns.

When she was about halfway across, a tiny, angry-looking humanoid--a troll--leaped up from over the side.

As she crossed, she thought she heard faint voices coming from the water below her.

Her trek across the bridge was uneventful, and it looked like she could continue her journey without much delay. She did still wonder why that river hadn't been on the map, though.
