The chains that held the princess were created by magic, and were no match
for the honest steel of Sir Adrian's blade. As he touched each binding,
they turned to dust, and eventually the princess was free. Meanwhile, Andrea was looking a little annoyed. "Couldn't I do just as good a job with the sword as you are?" she asked Adrian. "Why do you have to show off?" But he was too intent on the lovely princess to notice her. Andrea sighed, jealously. Obviously, it would be a long time before he noticed her again. Meanwhile, Astra said, "Thank you for rescuing me, noble knight. What's your name?" He responded, "Sir Adrian of--" and then stopped. "Of where?" said Astra. She looked as if she already knew the answer. "Of Tetrilonia," said Adrian, downcast. Astra was shocked. It seemed as if she had some conflict going on inside her. "What's going on?" Andrea whispered to Adrian. "Oh, my people and hers are old enemies," Adrian said, ruefully. "This is the legendary Princess Astra. She fought in the most recent war against Tetrilonia, and saw many of her people die in it. Once, my people were a militaristic nation who tried to take over all of the Earth. Now, we have a more peaceful leader who's trying to improve relations with the other nations. Sending me here on a quest to kill the Dragon was part of that. Astra probably knows about this, unless she's been in the Dragon's caves for a long time, but she probably still feels the scars of the war. As do many of her people. And mine." A sad look passed over his face.
