Haven't We Been Here Before?

The dog proved to be friendly. In fact, the dog was intelligent! Through a system of 'Yes' and 'No' barks they quickly set up, Adrian and Andrea learnt that this dog was actually a kidnapped teenager who had lived on a farm nearby. Seems the dragon didn't eat the people it kidnapped, it changed them into animals! Animals didn't chop down trees to make homes, they didn't turn cool lush fields into cornfields, they didn't make ugly villages in lovely valleys. The teenager, whose name was Velus, insisted on showing them where the dragon slept so Sir Adrian could chop it's head off.

Adrian and Andrea allowed Velus to lead them through the maze of tunnels that led towards the dragon's lair. Eventually they came upon a beautiful damsel, chained to the wall of the tunnel.

Intent as he was on facing the dragon, Sir Adrian couldn't help but be totally captivated (much to Andrea's annoyance) by the gorgeous young woman he beheld. Tall, athletic, full-breasted, with a mane of red hair... and wearing nothing but the chains that held her to the side of the tunnel. She was no shrinking violet; in the circumstances she made no negative reaction to his gaze over her anatomy but instead got straight to the point. "Unchain me, please! Perhaps together we three can defeat this Dragon of the Northern Caves... but with his magic powers he has toyed with me!" "Er... he's the dragon of the Southern Caves." "Not by the maps of Aqualaria."

Sir Adrian pondered. He should have realized this woman was one of the fabled warrior princesses of his kingdom's southern neighbor, the border being the same mountain range as held the caves. And the dragon certainly had no reason to respect political boundaries.

Checking that Andrea and Velus the dog-teen were out of the way of his stroke, he aimed for the chain holding the Aqualarian princess's left arm to the cave wall... she carefully kept her arm clear so he could strike without hitting her.

1. He severed the chain with his sword.
2. He struck the chain, which notched the sword and was not harmed by it.
3. As he prepared to strike the cave went pitch dark and he heard evil laughter.
4. Before he could strike, the princess said: "But I'm forgetting my manners. We should introduce ourselves first."
