Hannah vaguely remembered having had misgivings about the fairies during the journey here, but she couldn't for the life of her understand them now. And she was a bit sad that the humans couldn't seem to understand the beauty of fairy culture the way she did.
Life continued peacefully for five whole years before...
-
one of the children (eleven years old now) provoked a fairy, causing her to shrink both him and his mother, who'd been in the garden with him, to Hannah's size.
-
one of the children (the girl, thirteen by now) started trying to communicate with the fairies.
-
the new baby, shortly after learning how to walk, found Hannah, and drew the family's attention to her.
-
Hannah was picked up and carried away by a curious squirrel.
-
Hannah finally truly began to lose her humanity, as her brain, practically unused for eight years, became more like that of an animal.
