No no no no, they were taking her to their next home, wherever that was. She knew it would be far, far away from Gloriana's cottage. Tears stung in her eyes. They were going to settle down somewhere completely unfamiliar to her, and resume their songs, and again render her blissfully clueless of the reality of her situation and genuinely grateful for the way they treated her like an animal. She'd also probably eat herself to death.

  1. But they were too high up. She clung to the fairy carrying her, just praying she would not fall.
  2. Feeling a surge of either courage or foolishness, she suddenly pushed herself away from the fairy, who dropped her, surprised. The leaves cushioned her fall, and she ended up on a branch, where she quickly found a hiding spot after a few dazed seconds.
