Belboz explained that the artifact was an ancient pot in which he needed to mix a potion. Fred didn't understand a lot of the technical stuff but the explanation seemed genuine and Belboz was willing to answer any questions that he - she - had. "I don't know if I can pretend to be a little girl," Fred said hesitantly. "Oh, don't worry. I have a simple spell prepared that will make all the other children think they recognize you from somewhere, and it will be easy for you to fit in. The party will be large and wild. Just tell them your name is Hannah and your father is Belboz, and they oughtn't question you."
