"Excellent!" said Belboz in relief. "Now then, let's go."

They materialized outside of a large house owned by a merchant with three daughters, one of whom was turning seven. Belboz handed his "daughter" a gift, and they entered.

Fred was immediately terrified. This house was huge, and absolutely full of children, most of them little girls her age or slightly older. They were all running and dancing and screaming and eating and it was absolute chaos, and so much bigger in relation to her than it should have been.

Belboz nudged her from behind and immediately vanished into the crowd. After standing still in terror for a few moments, Fred

  1. was approached by a group of half a dozen little girls saying, "Come play a game with us!"
  2. began to make her way towards the gifts table.
  3. immediately decided she needed some fresh air.
