Room 204

"That would be four fifty a night for both rooms. How many nights are you staying?"

"Two," 'William' replied, as he handed the clerk an orange-tinted bill.

The clerk raised his eyebrows and then nodded. "I do not see those every day. A ten-dollar gold certificate. Nice." He handed William a silver dollar coin in change.

Josh and William then went upstairs to check their rooms. Josh had room 204. He stared around. This was cool! It was like an old grandma room. The windows had lace curtains, and there was a mauve wallpaper with images vines and flowers. There was a large brass bed, and a wooden table with a pitcher, a towel, and a mirror. Josh lay on the bed. It was firm, but comfortable. He could hear a clanging noise from the heating system.

He washed his face and hands, and then went out into the hallway, where he met William. Josh said, "So do you know where this restaurant is?"

"Yes, of course, it is at the hotel itself, on the ground floor."

"Sorry, you did tell me that. Are you ready to go downstairs and eat?"

1. "Yes."
2. "Not just yet. I have something that I need to check on."
