Checking In

As the bank teller had promised, the Alexander was away from the clatter of horse's hooves and the sputtering of the occasional automobile engine. Josh was feeling the frisson of excitement on his first journey through time. In 2014, it was difficult to go to a city and escape the same brands and devices that he could see in his own place. So even if he had not moved far, this was much better than visiting a foreign country. Josh noticed that today was hazier than it was one hundred years later - factories belched dust and smoke out into the open. The hotel had awnings over most windows, to give shade during the summer. This was also a fashion that had disappeared in 2014. Josh and the Time Traveler checked in at the lobby. Josh was going to let the Time Traveler take the lead. He might even find out his name, which was not given in the book.
