Fred, Astra and Velus held their breath for as long as they could before
coming up
for air. Fortunately, when they did the flies appeared to have gone. The
water of
the pool had been slightly phosphorescent; otherwise they could never have
found it
in the dark.
So now, as well as being in almost total darkness, they were wet as well. This did not much matter to the naked princess or to the teen-dog Velus, but Fred's clothes now hung heavy and uncomfortable on him. Worse still, most of the provisions in his backpack would be ruined by their immersion in water.
